The research group chaired by Professor Zhou Kun, a Yangtze River scholar from Zhejiang University, has innovated the traditional water transfer printing technology, upgraded the traditional technology with the means of calculation, and put forward a new computing water transfer printing technology (3D surface precise Coloring Technology), which has solved the problem of accurate coloring for 3D objects for the first time in the world.
Using computer graphics and computer vision technology, three-dimensional design drawings are “reduced” to two-dimensional “expanded drawings” by specially developed software, and the deformation of water transfer film in water transfer printing process is physically modeled for the first time, and then the mapping relationship between three-dimensional design drawings and each point on the film is obtained. Then, the two-dimensional development map is printed on the water transfer film by the ordinary ink-jet printer, and then the film is spread on the water surface to wrap the 3D model in the water and color it.
Low cost, fast speed and low precision
Removing the traditional surface coloring can only be used for objects that have no requirements for accuracy, such as camouflage, marble and other textures. Through computer graphics and computer vision technology, this technology enables water transfer printing to “aim” and put on any designed color “coat” for three-dimensional objects.
